THE DAILY PRAYER BRIEFING

Today, the federal government is in shutdown mode. Since the Senate was not able to garner enough votes to pass the continuing resolution to keep the government operational by the end of the 2025 fiscal year, September 30, the White House Office of Management and Budget will determine where to apply discretionary funding until Congress passes appropriations legislation.

Congress and the DC Mall

The White House issued guidance to executive agencies last week on the preparation of reduction-in-force plans should a shutdown occur.

President Donald Trump's new tariffs also take effect today. The president stated his purpose to restore manufacturing and jobs within the United States.

These include 100 percent duties on imported branded drugs, 25 percent on heavy-duty truck imports, 50 percent on kitchen cabinets, 30 percent on upholstered furniture, and 100 percent on films made outside the U.S.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us ...
  • For OMB Director Russ Vought as he oversees the allotment of available funding for essential programs in the shutdown.
  • For President Trump as he makes decisions and takes action to encourage the American economy.
  • For members of Congress as they discuss appropriation bills for the coming fiscal year.
