THE DAILY PRAYER BRIEFING

President Donald Trump stated that the government shutdown provides his administration the opportunity to exert leverage on federal spending that is typically controlled by Congress.

Capitol Congress

Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought confirmed that the reduction in force has begun as federal agencies have started to lay off some furloughed employees as the shutdown continues. This week, the Senate failed to pass a funding agreement for the eighth time.

The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, is holding an executive business meeting today to consider President Trump's nominees for U.S. district judge positions in Mississippi and for U.S. attorneys in Mississippi, Missouri, and Indiana.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us ...
  • For President Trump to seek the Lord's guidance as he oversees the functioning of the government without congressional appropriations.
  • For Director Vought to be wise in his determination of essential agencies and the reduction in force.
  • For Chairman Grassley as he presides over the Senate Judiciary Committee and its consideration of district judge and U.S. attorney nominees.
