THE DAILY PRAYER BRIEFING

U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced the Janus program that will locate small nuclear power-generating reactors on Army installations worldwide. The program aligns with President Donald Trump's executive order, issued in May, that calls for a nuclear reactor to function on a domestic U.S. base by the close of fiscal year 2028.

Army Small Military Nuclear Reactor

The program is intended to develop the microreactors so the service can shift away from its reliance on diesel fuel.

Secretary Wright said, "Ultimately, and not in the too far future, you'll be able to place a reactor at a forward-deployed base, produce multiple megawatts of power, so meaningful power, and it'll run for years, potentially decades, without any refueling or any reservicing."

"If you think about our engagement and conflict in the Indo-Pacific, it is not going to be like a war we've had the last 40 or 50 years," Secretary Driscoll said. "We are going to need energy on the actual objective. We're going to need to be able to access power like we have never needed it before."

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us ...
  • For Secretaries Driscoll and Wright to be discerning as they collaborate on the Janus program.
  • For President Trump as he seeks to ensure U.S. military installations have an independent, reliable power source.
  • For the protection of all the U.S. military personnel stationed and deployed around the globe.
