President Trump imposed "tremendous" sanctions on Russian oil and gas companies late last month in an effort to press Russia toward peace in Ukraine. The president said, "We hope that they won't be on for long, we hope that the war will be settled." Hungary relies on Russia for much of its energy supply. After the sanctions were put in place, the Hungarian prime minister said he was working on "how to circumvent these sanctions." He is expected to seek sanction exemptions to avoid exorbitant energy prices in his landlocked nation. |
