Dear Prayer Team Member,

Thank you for praying with us. Here is your Daily Prayer Briefing.

THE DAILY PRAYER BRIEFING

Supreme Court Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson granted the emergency appeal on Friday night to lift the deadline imposed by a lower court that would have required President Donald Trump's administration to fully fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for the remainder of November during the government shutdown. The decision comes as the 1st Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals indicated it would be considering the administration's appeal "as quickly as possible."

Under a district judge's earlier order, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) previously used the remainder of the SNAP contingency fund, which only covered half of this month.

USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins called on the Senate to vote "yes" and fund the government to keep to program running. She said the government is failing people, stating, "Poverty is not red or blue... It doesn't matter who you voted for -- or even if you voted -- that if you are in a position where you can't feed your family, and you're relying on that $187 a month for an average family in the SNAP program."

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is also in the process of investigating massive fraud in SNAP.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us ...
  • For the president and members of his Cabinet as they appeal or seek to comply with federal court orders regarding administration policies and actions.
  • For President Trump to seek God's wisdom as he and his administration navigate the government shutdown.
  • For the justices and judges to be discerning as they issue decisions concerning how federal agencies must act without congressional appropriations.
  • For members of the Senate as they consider the options to fund the federal government.
