White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the president sees next year's sporting event as a "priority national project," as the World Cup will occur simultaneously with celebrations of the United States' 250th anniversary next summer. President Trump has been involved in the planning of the World Cup, having established a task force back in March for the event, which will be held in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The president suggested swapping out American cities that are not cooperating with immigration and criminal law enforcement "if somebody is doing a bad job and if I feel there's unsafe conditions." |
