THE DAILY PRAYER BRIEFING

Today, the United States remembers the fallen when Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan on this day in 1941. The U.S. lost 2,403 Americans in the attack, and 1,178 were wounded. Congress declared war on Japan the following day, drawing the U.S. into the Second World War.

President Donald Trump is hosting the 48th Annual Kennedy Center Honors today. The president currently serves as chairman of the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

Early in his second term, President Trump removed the Kennedy Center leadership, stating it was due to fiscal mismanagement, building neglect, and political ideology.

Kennedy Center President Richard Grenell said that the institution is focusing on "common sense" programming now.
