Today, the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, chaired by Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, is considering legislation that would withhold senators' pay in the event of a government shutdown.

The Senate Armed Services Committee, chaired by Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi, is hearing testimony from the Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Americas Security Affairs, the Principal Deputy General Counsel Department of Defense, and the Commander of the U.S. Northern Command on the president's deployment of the National Guard around the country.

The House Homeland Security Committee, chaired by Representative Andrew Garbarino of New York, will hear testimony from the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, the FBI National Security Branch Operations Director, and Homeland Security Secretary Noem in a hearing titled "Worldwide Threats to the Homeland."
