Agency officials outlined how the "flood" of foreign-born individuals illegally entering the U.S. in recent years "contributed to the sharp increases in housing costs for the American people." Secretary Scott Turner said that the HUD report "found that between 2021 and 2024, the foreign-born population in our country increased by six million people - the largest such influx over such a short period in American history."
