This week, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. Navy will build a "Golden Fleet" of new battleships.

The president was joined by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Navy Secretary John Phelan, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as he made the announcement regarding the "Trump class" of frigates at Mar-a-Lago.

"Each one of these will be the largest battleship in the history of our country, the largest battleship in the history of the world ever built," President Trump said. "It's 100 times more powerful than the previous Iowa class."
