Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law, have continued to negotiate with officials from Russia and Ukraine on a peace deal to end the Ukraine war. Ukraine has resisted the proposed ceding of territory to Russia beyond the current front line, objects to the inclusion of a formal block of Ukraine ever joining NATO, and has insisted on security guarantees from the U.S. While Russia has not agreed to any ceasefire plans and has consistently demanded control of certain territory, such as the Donbas region, ministers from Moscow have continued to engage in peace discussions. |
