President Donald Trump spoke via satellite with the astronauts on Monday, telling them, "You've made history and made all of America really proud There's nothing like what you're doing, circling around the Moon for the first time in more than half a century and breaking the all-time record for the farthest distance from planet Earth You really are modern-day pioneers." He added, "I look forward to having you in the Oval Office at the White House and we will celebrate your incredible achievements and triumphs." The three NASA astronauts and one CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut have been aboard the Orion spacecraft, named Integrity, since the April 1 launch. This crew made the first trip around the moon since the last lunar mission, Apollo 17, in December 1972. |
