The state of South Dakota, the National Park Service, and Black Hills National Forest announced the closure of Mount Rushmore National Memorial today as agencies and officials prepare for the Freedom 250 fireworks display. Only ticket holders will be admitted to the fireworks celebration on July 3rd. Federal, state, and local agencies are coordinating with the fireworks contractor on event preparation, traffic management, public safety, and environmental protection. Mount Rushmore will reopen to the public on July 4. |
